Usage analytics and crash reports
Weekcut uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics from Google. Both are optional. Settings has a switch for each, under Privacy: "Usage analytics" and "Crash reports". Your choice is remembered.
If your App Store country is in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, both start off. Nothing is sent until you turn a switch on, and the legal basis is your consent. Everywhere else both start on, and the same switches turn them off. There the legal basis is our legitimate interest in seeing which features are used and fixing crashes, and turning a switch off is your objection.
Usage analytics sends which steps you use: importing videos, finished captions, exports, the Pro offer and purchase results. Firebase can also record app opens, sessions, screens viewed, app updates and in-app purchases with the product and price. It also sends the detected spoken language, the speech model, file counts, and device and app details such as model, system version, app version, country and a random app-instance identifier. Crash reports send the crash location, device state at the time of the crash and a random installation identifier. Neither ever contains your videos, transcripts, captions, post or file names, or learned words. Weekcut does not use an advertising identifier.
Turning "Usage analytics" off clears the analytics data held on your device. Turning "Crash reports" off deletes crash reports that have not been sent. While crash reports are off, Weekcut deletes stored reports at launch, so turning the switch on later never sends an older crash. Google processes this data for us and may process it outside your country, including in the United States. Analytics event data is kept for up to 14 months. Crash data is kept for up to 90 days. Media and transcripts
Weekcut imports videos and audio you select. It saves working media, transcripts, edits, learned words, styles and export history on your device. Speech recognition and editing run locally. Weekcut does not upload this content for transcription. Downloading speech models requires a network connection. Hugging Face and its download infrastructure receive network information such as your IP address and the requested model files, not your videos or transcripts. The legal basis is providing the captioning you ask for.
Purchases
Apple processes subscriptions and payment details. The legal basis is the contract you enter when you subscribe. When configured for purchases, RevenueCat starts with the app and processes pseudonymous app-user identifiers, purchase and entitlement records, and device/network metadata. Storage, exports and deletion
Local projects remain until removed. Deleting a project removes its working records according to the app's deletion controls. Saved styles and learned words are managed separately. Exported videos, Photos copies and device backups can remain outside the app. Their destination or backup provider controls those copies. Uninstalling does not cancel a subscription or delete store transaction records.
Permissions and choices
The system picker limits imports to selected files. Photo access supports saving finished exports. Notifications are optional. Manage permissions in device settings. Manage subscriptions using the app's Settings link or Apple subscription settings. Weekcut does not include advertising or ad tracking.
Contact and support
Use the app to edit or delete local content. Contact devappgea@gmail.com for privacy questions or requests concerning support and purchase records. Contact support in Settings opens our support form on Google Forms, with Weekcut and your device model, system version and app version filled in. You can change or remove those before sending. The form and email support receive only the information you choose to send. Avoid sending private media unless required for your request. The legal basis is answering your request. Support messages are kept as long as needed to answer your request and its follow-ups.
Transfers outside the EU
Google LLC and RevenueCat, Inc. are based in the United States. Google protects these transfers under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. RevenueCat names its safeguards in its privacy policy, linked above. Apple names its own in its privacy policy.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for access to your personal data, and for it to be corrected, deleted, restricted or handed over to you. You can object to processing based on legitimate interest, and withdraw consent at any time with the Settings switches. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that already happened. Analytics and crash data use random identifiers, not your name, so we may need the app-instance identifier from your device to find them. Weekcut makes no automated decisions about you with legal or similar effect.
