Introduction
Appgea ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Tavla mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App, including its single-player, local network (LAN), and online multiplayer features.
By using Tavla, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information We Collect
Information We Do NOT Collect
Tavla does not collect or require:
- Your real name, email address, or phone number
- Location data (GPS or precise location)
- Hardware device identifiers (IMEI, MAC address)
- Your contacts or photo library
- Payment or financial information
Online play uses an anonymous account (see "Online Multiplayer" below); we do not ask you to register with an email, password, or social login.
1. Game Statistics (Stored Locally on Your Device)
The following data is stored locally on your device using SharedPreferences:
- Game outcomes (wins, losses, games played)
- Match statistics (matches played, matches won)
- Player rating and rank progression
- Mars wins (special victory type)
- Total match points earned
- Your blocked-players list (stored as anonymous opponent IDs)
Storage Location: Local device storage
User Control: You can reset local statistics at any time through the app settings
Retention: Until the app is uninstalled or statistics are manually reset
2. Online Multiplayer Account and Profile (Stored on Our Servers)
When you use online multiplayer, the App signs you in to an anonymous account through Firebase Authentication. This account:
- Is not linked to your name, email, or phone number
- Is identified by a randomly generated user ID (UID)
- Is created automatically the first time you play online
To run matchmaking, ranked play, and leaderboards, we store the following profile data on our servers, associated with your anonymous UID:
- Display name — a nickname you choose (you can change it at any time)
- Avatar — a cosmetic image you select from an in-app catalog
- Online statistics — wins, losses, rating, and rank
- Virtual items — in-game currency (coins) and owned cosmetic items
Visibility: Your display name, avatar, and rank may be shown to other players — for example to your current opponent and on public leaderboards.
Purpose: Enable online matchmaking, ranked competition, leaderboards, and cosmetics.
Data Controller: Appgea (game servers) and Google LLC (Firebase Authentication).
3. Online Match Data (Transmitted During Play)
During an online match, the following is sent through our servers to your opponent:
- Game state — dice rolls, piece moves, and game outcomes
- Your display name and selected avatar
- Emote reactions — a fixed, preset set of emoji reactions (e.g. 👍 😂 🔥). Tavla does not include free-form text chat; you cannot send custom messages to other players.
4. Safety and Moderation (Report / Block)
To keep online play safe, the App lets you:
- Report a player to us for moderation review. A report includes the reported player's anonymous UID and an optional reason you may type.
- Block / unblock a player. Blocking hides that player's emotes and prevents the matchmaker from pairing you with them again.
Reports are reviewed to enforce our community standards and may result in action against an account.
5. Analytics Data (Sent to Firebase Analytics)
We collect anonymous usage analytics through Firebase Analytics:
- Game Events: game started/ended, match started/ended
- Game Metrics: game duration, number of moves, game mode (AI / LAN / online)
- Game Outcomes: win/loss, mars status
- Feature Usage: statistics viewed, ranks viewed, statistics reset
- Multiplayer Events: lobby opened, match found, connection established/lost
- Rank Progression: rank-up events with old/new rank
Purpose: Understand how users play the game and improve the app experience
Data Controller: Google LLC (Firebase Analytics)
6. Crash and Error Reports (Sent to Firebase Crashlytics)
We collect technical error information through Firebase Crashlytics:
- App crashes and exceptions
- Error context (game mode, error codes)
- Device model and operating system version
- App version
Purpose: Identify and fix bugs to improve app stability
Data Controller: Google LLC (Firebase Crashlytics)
7. Attribution and Analytics Data (Sent to TikTok)
We use the TikTok Events SDK for marketing attribution and analytics:
- Events Tracked: App launches, game starts, game ends, match ends
- Data Collected: Device advertising ID (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android), app events, install attribution data
- User Control: You can limit tracking via App Tracking Transparency (iOS) or device ad settings (Android)
Purpose: Measure effectiveness of advertising campaigns and optimize user acquisition
Data Controller: TikTok Inc.
Privacy Policy: https://www.tiktok.com/legal/privacy-policy
8. Advertising Data (Sent to Google AdMob)
We display ads through Google AdMob:
- Ad Types: Banner ads and Interstitial ads (between games)
- Ad Personalization: AdMob may collect a device advertising ID for ad personalization. In the EEA/UK, we request consent through Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before serving personalized ads.
- User Control: You can opt out of personalized ads in your device settings, or adjust consent in the in-app Privacy options.
Purpose: Generate revenue to support free app development
Data Controller: Google LLC (Google AdMob)
Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Local Network Multiplayer (LAN)
When you use the LAN multiplayer feature:
Data Transmitted Over Local Network
- Player Name: User-configurable display name (default: "Player")
- Game State: Dice rolls, piece moves, game outcomes
- Connection Data: UDP broadcasts on port 41234, TCP communication on port 41235
Important Notes
- All LAN communication stays on your local WiFi network
- Data is not encrypted (standard for local network games)
- LAN play does not send data to our servers or third-party services
- Player name is stored locally and can be changed at any time
Required Permissions
- Android: Internet, Network State, WiFi Multicast State
- iOS: Local Network Access (NSLocalNetworkUsageDescription)
