ClearDay

Privacy Policy

Last updated August 1, 2026.

ClearDay ("the App", "we", "us", "our") is developed and published by Appgea ("the Developer"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App processes, how it is processed, and the rights you have in relation to that information.

It applies to both editions of ClearDay:

The two editions are separate applications built for their own platform. They share the same product, the same on-device-only design, and this policy. Where a section applies to only one platform, it says so.

By downloading, installing, or using ClearDay, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

1. The Short Version

2. Who We Are (Data Controller)

Appgea is the data controller for any limited information processed in connection with the App.
Contact: privacy@appgea.com

3. Information Processed by the App

3.1 Information You Provide and Store Locally

The following information is collected by the App solely to power its features and is stored on your device. This is identical on iOS and Android:

This information never leaves your device except through the optional platform sync or backup described in §5, or when you explicitly export/share a generated share card.

3.2 Information Processed by Apple (iOS Edition)

Apple processes the following in connection with the iOS App; we do not see it:

3.3 Information Processed by Google (Android Edition)

Google processes the following in connection with the Android App; we do not see it:

3.4 Information Processed by RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat, Inc. ("RevenueCat") to manage and validate subscription and lifetime-purchase entitlements on both platforms. When you launch the App, RevenueCat receives:

RevenueCat returns your entitlement status so the App knows whether "ClearDay Pro" is active. We do not transmit any of the health, behavioral, or free-text content listed in §3.1 to RevenueCat. RevenueCat's privacy practices are available at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy.

3.5 Information We Do Not Collect

On either platform, we do not collect, and have never collected, for advertising, tracking, analytics, or an Appgea-operated user account:

The iOS App does not request App Tracking Transparency permission because it does not track you across apps or websites. The Android App declares no advertising identifier permission and contains no advertising SDK.

4. How the App Uses Information

Locally stored information is used exclusively to:

Subscription information (from Apple, Google, and RevenueCat) is used only to gate access to paid features.

5. Local Storage, Sync, and Backup

5.1 iOS Edition

Local storage. All user content is persisted on-device using Apple's SwiftData framework.

App Groups. The App and its widget extension share data via the App Group group.com.appgea.clearday, stored in a private container on your device. This enables widgets, Lock Screen widgets, StandBy, Siri, and App Intents to read your current stats without a network request.

iCloud sync (optional). SwiftData is configured with ModelConfiguration(cloudKitDatabase: .automatic) against the CloudKit container iCloud.com.appgea.clearday. If you are signed into iCloud on your device and have iCloud Drive enabled for ClearDay, your data may sync between your Apple devices through Apple's encrypted CloudKit service. This sync is end-to-end managed by Apple; we have no ability to read, export, or delete data in your iCloud. You can disable sync at any time in iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud.

5.2 Android Edition

Local storage. All user content is persisted on-device in the App's private storage using Jetpack DataStore, serialized as JSON. Nothing is written to shared or external storage except a share-card image you explicitly export.

Widgets. The home-screen widgets read the same private on-device store through the App's own widget provider. No network request and no cross-app data sharing is involved.

No cross-device sync. The Android edition has no cloud sync. Your data does not move between Android devices, and it does not sync with the iOS edition. Moving between platforms means starting the data fresh.

Android Auto Backup. The App allows Android's system backup. If backup is enabled on your device, Android may copy the App's private data to your personal Google account so it can be restored on a new device. This is handled entirely by Android and Google; Appgea has no access to it. Disable it in Android Settings → Google → Backup, or by turning backup off for ClearDay.

6. Notifications

ClearDay schedules local notifications only (milestones, weekly summary, re-engagement, post-reset support, reminders). They are generated and delivered entirely by the operating system on your device and never pass through our or any third-party server. There is no push infrastructure and no push token.

7. Third-Party Services

The App relies on the following services. Each has its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review:

We do not use Firebase, Google Analytics, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Facebook SDK, Amplitude, Mixpanel, Segment, Sentry, Crashlytics, AppsFlyer, Adjust, Branch, or any advertising network on either platform.

8. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA / UK Users)

For users in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal bases under the GDPR / UK GDPR are:

Because we do not collect personal data on our own servers, no profiling or automated decision-making with legal effect takes place.

9. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights:

Because substantially all data is stored on your device, you can exercise most of these rights directly from within the App:

California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)

In the last 12 months we have not sold or shared personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not sell or share personal information today. California residents have the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale/sharing (not applicable — we do neither), and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

10. Data Retention

11. Security

User content stays on your device, protected by the platform's app sandbox and file-system encryption — iOS Data Protection on Apple devices, and Android's per-app private storage plus file-based encryption on Android devices. Platform backups (iCloud, Android Auto Backup) are encrypted by Apple and Google respectively. Network traffic between the App and RevenueCat uses TLS. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security, but the design minimizes the amount of data that could be exposed in the first place.

12. International Transfers

RevenueCat processes data in the United States. Where required (EEA/UK/Swiss users), transfers rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards implemented by RevenueCat. Apple's and Google's international transfers are governed by their own privacy policies.

13. Children's Privacy

ClearDay is intended for adults. It is rated 17+ on the App Store and carries an adult content rating on Google Play. The App is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions where the applicable age is higher), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, please contact privacy@appgea.com and we will take appropriate steps.

14. Medical and Health Disclaimer

ClearDay is a motivational and tracking tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Nothing in the App should be interpreted as medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for guidance on smoking cessation, nicotine withdrawal, or any health concern.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the App, applicable law, or our practices. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide in-app notice. Continued use of the App after the effective date of a revised policy constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
